Who can use it

MedKhata is for adults who can enter a binding agreement, to keep their own health records or those of family members they are authorised to act for. The registered operating entity and address for MedKhata are being finalised and will appear here shortly.

Your account

You sign in with an email or username and a password. Keep your password to yourself and tell us if you think someone else has access to your account. You’re responsible for what happens under your account. You can deactivate it at any time from Settings — this signs you out everywhere immediately without deleting your records, and signing back in within 30 days restores it.

Acting for family members

Adding a family member to MedKhata (the product calls them a “member”) is itself your representation that you are authorised to keep and manage their health records. Only add someone whose records you have the right to hold — MedKhata does not independently verify this.

Medical disclaimer

MedKhata is a record-keeping tool. It is not medical advice, and it does not replace your judgement or a qualified professional’s. MedKhata is not an emergency service — the emergency card and emergency link are a way to share information faster with whoever attends to a member; they do not contact emergency services, a doctor or anyone else on your behalf.

Doctor profiles on MedKhata are self-reported and are not verified by MedKhata against the NMC or any State Medical Council register. Independently verify a doctor’s credentials before relying on records shared with them or acting on their advice through the app.

Reminders and alerts are a convenience, not a guarantee. Phone battery or background restrictions, lost connectivity, or an older device can delay or block them — don’t rely on MedKhata as your only reminder for a time-critical dose.

Acceptable use

• Don’t store or share records you don’t have the right to keep.
• Don’t claim to be a doctor, or claim a medical qualification, that isn’t yours.
• Don’t misuse a sharing invitation, emergency link or helper link — for example, by distributing one publicly or using it to access records you weren’t given access to.
• Don’t try to disrupt or gain unauthorised access to MedKhata or anyone else’s account.

Rewards

MedKhata may give you coins as a thank-you for using it regularly, for example for daily visits and streaks. Coins are earn-only — there is currently no way to spend, redeem or cash them out, they have no monetary value, and they are not transferable. We can change or end the rewards programme at any time.

Availability

MedKhata is free while it is being built and runs on free-tier infrastructure. We try to keep it available and your data safe, but we can’t promise uninterrupted access or that the service will never have downtime or bugs.

Limitation of liability

MedKhata is provided “as is”. To the maximum extent the law allows, MedKhata and the people who build it are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential loss arising from your use of the service, including loss arising from relying on a shared record, an emergency link, or a doctor’s unverified credentials.

Termination

You can stop using MedKhata and deactivate your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate an account that violates these terms, misuses a sharing, emergency or helper link, or that we reasonably believe puts other users’ data at risk.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India, and disputes are subject to the jurisdiction of Indian courts.

Changes to these terms

This is a draft that we will keep revising as MedKhata changes. We’ll update the date at the top of this page whenever we do.
